Bboy Cloud has done it again.....

So this Bboy has gone above and beyond his role as a dancer.  He is a true artist.  Daniel campos (aka Cloud), can be seen in movies such as the "Step Up 3", a dancer for Madonna, and a character from the internet LXD series....to name a few.  He's also seen at many Breakdance battles around the world.  It's cool how this guy is "famous", but yet still sticks to his roots as a bboy.  He is just as raw as anyone else in all the jams and battles.

I am truly inspired by this guy.  He has accomplished so much in the dance world, as well as in media, art and film.  He also puts together his own mini films that are absolutely clever and amazing!

Check it out....the latest one is INSANE!!!

I found this one kinda funny. I can relate to it myself, and also to other fellow dancers I would travel with. It is weird, but dancers most often always have beats in their heads and a rhythm to their walk. I remember laughing at a buddy of mine because while waiting in line for food he was rockin' (which meant there must be good food cuz he was happy!). Dancers are known to not be able to stand still..and we will dance everywhere...a lot of times oblivious to our surroundings. Yeah, you get a lot of weird looks, but I think in some small way bring joy to those people. We just can't help it....we hear the sound ;)

Here is another cool mini film from cloud, enjoy!!

Here is a trailer someone put together for him:

this one just makes me laugh....

A scene from Step Up 3:

OMG!!! This next one is too much...I'm still laughing!!

okay....another one...

Alright...that's it for now. Man....I'm inspired and uplifted. Time to dance!!!

Peace and Love to you all!
Don't stop that body rock!!!!

cool nails :)

I am not the best on keeping up on my blog, but I thought I'd just post some pix of a cool new product I tried. It's called "Sally Hansen Salon Effects". I really like this product because it's a lot of fun, and actually pretty easy to apply.

The thing that I did wrong though, was that I got so excited about it when I got it home I opened the package for one hand. I realized that my nails weren't quite long enough so I had to wait a couple days.  The package was left open in the bathroom, and then I went to apply the strips they didn't stick at all!!!! I was so disappointed because I spent a lot of money on it.   I guess they lose their stickiness if the package isn't sealed.  What I ended up doing was take the other ones for the other hand and just cut them in half before I applied them... had enough for both hands.  This would also be a great way to get more for your money....only open one box and cut the nails in half (depends how long your nails are).  I also saved some and applied little strips where it chipped off.

It was very time consuming, but next time it will be a lot easier :) It is supposed to last 6-10 days and just needs to be removed with nail polish remover!

Very cool:

Next I'm going to try the nail pen:

Alright...that's it for now.  Have a good night everyone.  Peace and Lovin' :)

You are my peace of mind.

One of my role models. Lauryn Hill is a hip hop icon, a true artist. We definitely need more of her. After this video your about to see she was basically ruined. The media called her crazy, and you never really heard of her after this. I believe it was because she shed light on some things in society and media, and she talked about God. She had a transformation....I know what it was, but you be the judge. This song tells it all: Big shout outs to you Lauryn Hill for being courageous enough to tell the truth. I hope and pray you are still following the one who inspires you to be the higher you.

Okay, so I've been wrestling with the idea of girl role models. I've been soooooo frustrated with every time I turn on the TV all I see is supposed girl role models turn crazy. It is a pattern that most artists in our society/media have fallen into. Brittany Spears, Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, and the list goes on. I often think of if I had a girl who would I want her to look up to?!!

It was international womans day 2 days ago, and it made me think of who I look up to. I at least have more role models because I am a christian, and there are many more christian role models...but they are very rarely seen in the media. As of people that society would know I can only name a few that I "like"....but I wouldn't call them role models. Sandra Bullock, for example, I have always liked...she is funny, down to earth..and does wholesome movies. As of performing artists such as dancers...I would have to say Lady Jules, and Keely (from the Beat Freaks). But still, if I would mention their names to someone not many would know who the heck I was talking about.

I will do a whole nother blog about role models so I can really dig into it. But yeah, we say we want womens rights, and respect for women and all that...but we disrespect and degrade ourselves by allowing every add, every music video, every movie to just tear apart our dignity. Come on, be honest...women have become just sex symbols, and the ones that are trying to be pure and good get ripped apart.

For example, I love the show "Glee", but the last episode I was so disappointed. It was throwing sex in the youths face. I know teens need to be aware...but there is no room for "good" girls...or ones who choose to wait to have sex. There was a part in that episode where Rachael and Quinn made a statement on practicing Celibacy...and Gwenyth Paltrow (who played the sex-ed teacher) said "well isn't that rigid?!" Come on man...why??!!...

Why do we have this urge to be bad...and that choosing to be good is looked down upon? The lyrics of Avril Lavigne's new song is "All my life I've been good...but now I'm thinking what the hell?"...basically saying throw it all away.

After researching some more I'm going to post some positive role models of people I know and I love and respect. I was asking around of who peoples role models were and no one could really name one person the respected and thought was a good role model. We need more in society.

Anyway....I couldn't sleep until I got this off my chest!

Have a lovely night!

Shabby Chic

So, it's been a long time since I last blogged. I was away at my parents house in cold Saskatchewan!...It was record high in Toronto while it was record low in Saskatchewan. My son ended up getting an ear infection (poor little guy), so we ended up staying a little longer until he felt better.

I got a little stir crazy when I got back home, so I started a little project. I bought some random damaged frames and painted them to look "shabby chic".

Check it out:

I got all these frames from Home Sense. They were all marked down because of small damages.

The supplies:
1. Vaseline (put on edges for crackle effect)
2. Small 1" paint brush
3. Flat white latex paint
4. Painters tape
5. Sanding block

3 layers of paint (dry in between coats)
sanded to look "worn"

....and there ya have it....Shabby Chic, CherryD style.

Until next time...

Peace!
