Introducing LXD....The League of Extraodinary Dancers!!!

What's up everyone?!...Today I am posting about what I believe is the best dance company out there today.  I have dreamed of something like this many years ago (makes me sound really old...haha).  But, I am super pumped that someone actually took the initiative to do something with all these amazing elements of dance.  It is awesome to see someone with the means to take action and gave these extraordinary, talented dancers a chance to show their stuff.

I have seen many shows and movies try to incorporate dancers into their storyline and for some reason it ALWAYS turns out super cheesy....I mean CHEESY!!  Don't get me wrong, for the most part the dancing is great in them (the Step Up's for example)..(Step Up 3 had the best dancers by far)....but...the storyline is terrible!!! Come on "BFAB"!!??...Born From A Boombox??!!  I like the concept, but it just turned out kinda weird in my opinion.  Also,  why do all dance movies have to be about a dancer from the "ghetto" and a ballerina from "upper-class"...they see eachother, fall in love, make a crew and have a big, fun dance at the end...blah blah blah...

I am happy though that the "real" dancers in the movies actually had a chance to get a good job using their talents.  Dancers are most often overlooked.  In today's society dance is becoming more and more recognized in the media and to the general public.  Back when I was dancing in a studio our only dreams were to either be in Broadway (which I never had the heart for), or to be a back up dancer.  Voiceless....Nameless....and Faceless....pretty depressing.  But now, dancers are becoming recognized and I am so thankful for that.  There is so much talent out there that hasn't been seen for years.

I know a TON of talented dancers, who are close friends of mine and they are hurting for money and jobs.  I get discouraged sometimes when I see skateboarders or snowboarders get sponsored by huge companies and clothing companies and they are able to make a living at what they do.  Why are dancers struggling??!!...and when I say "dancers" I'm talking more about street dance (hip hop, funk styles, breaking...).  Maybe we need people who are more organized and can scout out for grants, etc...or maybe we just need to have someone more business-minded to speak for us.

One group that has taken street dance to the highest level of today are "the LXD" (League of Extraordinary Dancers)  The founder/writer Jon M Chu, saw a need and made it happen!  Thank God!!  These dancers NEED to be seen by the world.  This is what's up people.  This is raw, real and true talent here...This definitely makes me want to pursue dance again :)

Be inspired....

Peace and Love :)
